While the frame is well made and properly designed the fans are god awful. Extremely loud for the low RPM they spin at, with a piecing alternating high pitched hum that will disturb you even when listening with headphones. No fan speed settings to mitigate this either. Do not buy this product.

The fan does a great job at cooling my laptop while I’m working. Having the adjustable tilt means that I can sit up and not hunch over. Product is easy to fold down and fits in my laptop bag. Bought this to help cool my laptop while gaming. It does the job well and having adjustable tilt is handy for the different places I use it. It's about the same size as my laptop so it fits in my laptop bag with the laptop. Only things that would make it 5 stars is if it was a little bit quieter but it's not too bad. These things are really good for any laptop.
I bought one of these mats 4 years ago and it worked well for 1 year then started making a really horrible "roar" when when powered on. It lasted for a few seconds but over time it became longer until the fans just make the noise constantly. I took apart this one and found it was the shafts on the fan that had broken and the fan was essentially grinding on the side.
It's a common fault with cheap plastic brushless fans.

I've never tried the optional power adaptor but that should compensate for the load (most laptops have a maximum current of 2 amps on the USB ports, you can't power 4 hard drives from it!).

Based on my experience with this, I think it's an overpriced device for the quality.
I wouldn't recommend this for any price over $30.
