I bought this camera to try work out where a rat was getting into the house. It did the job – found two places. Problem solved. A smallish rat could trigger the camera recording at night, from about 3 meters. This was under pitch black – only using the camera’s built-in infrared light. The software supplied is OK. I have 5 of these now. I have them being monitored by Zoneminder and they work perfectly including the PTZ functions. The Tapo app is also easy to setup and allows remote monitoring and alerting to mobile phones. We use them to spy on the dogs when we're not home and we can verbally reprimand them with the voice feature if we catch them misbehaving. I have 5 of these now. Works a treat and can be accessed from anywhere. giving it 4 stars due to some useful features being behind a pay wall. But if i could, i would give 4 and a half stars as i believe the paywall isnt that big of the deal for general use of this product. Although I purchased with a different aim in mind - an additional webcam - this security camera has ended up in use as it's primary intended purpose, and gives us peace of mind as it watches our driveway 24/7. It is a great little camera, able to pan and tilt over a good range; it records onto a miniSD card; it has a speaker which can be activated to talk to someone at the door - all very cool and great value for the money! Camera works well, good resolution, relatively easy app. A bit fiddly to get it onto the wifi, but worked, and better than the no-name Chinese one I had before. However, after 3 days it stopped booting when powered on - the wifi ready indicator just never lit up. Web research suggests they can brick themselves when doing a firmware upgrade (I didn't do a firmware upgrade, but perhaps it did one itself). TP-Link support were very very slow, but once chatting to them they agreed it's bricked, and gave me a code for RMA. RMA currently underway. I've been using this camera for a few weeks now. It was very easy to set up and works really well.

Purchased a set of these as they were one of the best priced products on the market for a simple to set up home security system. Easy to instal and set up with a voice directed guide and easy to use app, it is a great addition to the home security. Being a wi-fi ready product, it it easy to access from anywhere and is highly customisable for notifications and recordings. Once a microSD card was installed, the recordings are of high quality and simple to access from the one app. Would recommend! The only con is that if you set on a shelf, you can't get a low view with the range. The camera is great, the app works well once it is setup but for some reason I kept having to restart the setup process because it just wouldn't connect to my network even though the wifi is in the same room. Eventually it worked and has been great ever since.
